The Project:
The Catholic Church and Science. These are the two greatest civilizational players of the last millennium. Catholic Science Greats highlights where these two great civilizational players intersect – through the lives and accomplishments of Catholic scientists throughout the centuries.
The Project Creator:
It started with a question: “Why did the Scientific Revolution occur in the Christian milieu of Western Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries?” Since asking that question more than 15 years ago, I have been researching the historical relationship between the Catholic Church and the development of science. In the course of my research, I have assembled the world’s largest database of Catholic scientists.
